Conversion and expansion of the Coburg II State Middle School, Coburg (D), mention

Our vision retains the extensive, high-quality structure of the existing classroom wings as far as possible, and upgrades it by redesigning internal areas. Existing connecting corridors already created the sense of a “school street” through the complex, and our concept brings this idea further to the fore. Our plans see all key functions and infrastructure arranged along the “street”, with existing connecting corridors replaced by small pavilions housing all new functions. We also replace the two separate sports halls at the end of the “school street” with a triple sports hall with a large north-facing fenestrated façade. This “display window” presents the school to the town.
