New construction of a joint library for Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and the University of Osnabrück , Osnabrück (D)

With the advent of the “blended library” set to continue to alter the face of many libraries in the future, we attempted to arrive at a highly flexible structure which delivers a compact, efficient shared building. Both libraries – and therefore both institutions – present themselves jointly to the town in the form of a large, consistent building which uses architecture to underline their cooperative model. In order to fulfil the requirements of both libraries, we designed a robust framework which can be filled with various functions and components – just like a shelf.
